About Tall YarnsTall Yarns opened its doors as a brick-and-mortar yarn shop in Georgetown, CO, but moved a year later to Evergreen CO. We specialized in natural yarns, i.e., wool, cotton, silk and linen only. At that time, it was hard to find natural fibers in the existing yarn stores, and very, very little tapestry wool at all. That is when we coined our motto: "Yes, we have no acrylic!" A close runner-up was: "Don't try to pull the acrylic over our eyes!" In 2000, Tall Yarns closed its physical doors, but remained an entity in the needlework industry through contracting and designing. Karlin Allen, Tall Yarns' founder, was employed by Presencia, USA for seven years as a Fiber Consultant and Designer Liaison. (Of course, a lot of customer service, data entry, shipping, filing and shelf-stocking was done, too!) The most fun and rewarding "duty" was attending the quilting and needlework trade shows, where Karlin happily assisted shop owners and designers in selecting pure cotton threads and yarns, and explaining their appropriate applications. When the excellent Presencia line was acquired by Colonial Needle and moved to New York in 2011, Tall Yarns became an online retailer. We hope you enjoy stitching our projects as much as we enjoyed creating them! |
